| The first of the Silver "Silverette" class was 'June Amelia', built in 1931, a small 30ft craft described as being a smaller version of the Brown Owl. The ratio of the weight of the (12 cwt.) iron ballast keel to the displacement, was the same. The dimensions were 30ft. LOA, 8ft. 71/2 ins. beam, by 3ft. draught. They were one of the first yachts to be powered by the Morris Navigator engine with a 'self start' electric starter, and were sold as two types, a four berth priced at £650, and the two berth model at £600. These prices included a 10ft clinker dinghy, and delivery afloat. The two berth version had an aft open cockpit with a large cushioned seat across the back. |
