| One of the most well known classes of Silver motor yacht is of course the Ormidale Class. The first of her type was naturally enough the yacht 'Ormidale', she had an overall length 53ft, beam of 13ft, and a draft of 4ft, and was built in 1947. She was winner of the 1948, second post-war, Pavillon d'or boat race. In 1947 the Silver motor yacht 'Cairngorm' had tied first. Once again John Bain had hit on a design that was immensely popular, and many more Ormidales were built. They were a fully seaworthy family boat, ideal for extended cruising. Today they rate as one of the most popular classes and are highly sought after. |
