| The first of this class, was Dorrimee built in 1934. These larger brown owls were not a lot larger than a 52ft Brown Owl, but the updated design offered much more in the way of comfort for the family man, such as a self flushing toilet. They were described as "a luxury liner in miniature", and later models were extended to 56ft. John Bain was particularly fond of this class and in an article in 'Motor Boat' Magazine gave 'Moiena' as his example. 'Moiena' later gained fame as a Dunkirk 'Little Ship', was owned by author John Marriner, and more recently was seized by customs for drug running in the Mediterranean! |
